This guide provides access to books, databases, websites, and other information related to housing. Use the tabs towards the top of the page to go to the relevant section.

How to Get Help with Immediate Housing Needs

If you or someone you know are in immediate need of housing, the Department of Homeless Services (DHS) processes cases at their 24-hour shelter intake centers and offers temporary assistance at several drop-in centers throughout the five boroughs. Both DHS shelter intake centers and drop-in centers are open 24 hours a day, seven days a week, including holidays.

For assistance with other immediate essential needs, see the hotlines below provided by government and community organizations.
