Taxes

Governments collect taxes to fund different projects and institutions including schools, libraries, and parks. There are different types of taxes. For example, state and local property taxes funds local schools. There are also sales taxes. When people buy items, they pay a percentage of their bills in sales tax to the state. Then there are federal taxes which is based on a person's yearly earnings, usually from their job. It is important to understand that not everyone pays the same in taxes. A person who earns $100,000 may pay more than someone earning half at $50,000. There are other considerations as well. A larger family may pay less. Many taxpayers can take advantage of deductions and exemptions. We hope this page helps you figure out how to file according to your personal situation.
