Ascendus, formerly Accion East, empowers low- to moderate-income (LMI) business owners with access to capital and financial education. With economic opportunity, these entrepreneurs – often individuals of color and women – can build assets, better provide for their families, create employment opportunities for their neighbors, and strengthen their communities.

BOC Capital Corp is dedicated to providing financing to small business owners, with a special focus on women, minority, and immigrant entrepreneurs.

Brooklyn Alliance Capital, Inc. provides financing to under-served minority and immigrant entrepreneurs and low-income small business owners to increase financial stability and foster economic growth that will create jobs in Brooklyn.

Our federally certified Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI) offers micro-loans of $500 - $10,000 to small and medium size businesses.

CAMBA Economic Development Corporation Small Business Loans are available for amounts up to $15,000 for Brooklyn-based entrepreneurs for inventory purchases, start up costs, working capital, and equipment purchases.​

To be eligible for this program you must be an adult who is starting or expanding a small business in Brooklyn​

The loans are made through CAMBA Economic Development Corporation, a federally certified community development financial institution (CDFI). CAMBA has provided access to startup or expansion loans to over 125 Brooklyn entrepreneurs since 2000.​

The New York State Grants Gateway consists of two sections. The Grants Opportunity Portal provides one stop shopping for grants seekers looking for grant opportunities from New York State agencies. The Grantee Document Vault allows grantees and potential applicants to store key documents in a single secure location for use by all state agencies offering grant opportunities. Registration is required, but free.

Philanthropy New York is a nonprofit membership association of grantmaking organizations in the tri-state area. Although NYRAG is not a grantmaking association, it offers opportunities for grantseekers to meet funders, publishes an online, full-text newsletter and provides a New York/New Jersey Common Application Form, which is accepted by 60 grantmaking organizations.

For more than 65 years, Pursuit, formerly known as New York Business Development Corporation, The 504 Company and Excelsior Growth Fund, has offered innovative lending solutions to help business owners follow their dreams.

Renaissance Economic Development Corporation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization and a U.S. Treasury-certified Community Development Financial Institution.  REDC’s mission is to transform low-to-moderate income and immigrant communities in New York City by providing low-interest small business loans, training and counseling services.

TruFund Financial Services, Inc fills a critical need for small businesses trying to access credit. The financing we offer allows businesses and nonprofit organizations to continue to invest and sometimes grow, even during the economic downturn. These entrepreneurs are opening new spaces and hiring workers, contributing to the revitalization of their local economies.

WEALF Women's Enterprise Action Loan Fund is a loan fund for women-owned businesses in the New York Tri-State area. First loans up to $10,000 are interest-free. Additional rounds of financing are provided at 3 percent. No WEALF loan requires collateral, a guarantor or minimum level of revenues to qualify.

Women.nyc is an initiative that connects women to jobs and businesses of the future and provides links to funding sources.

Womens Venture Fund, Inc.

It is widely acknowledged women have less access to money for their businesses than their male counterparts. In addition, women request less funding and run the risk of undercapitalizing their firms resulting in less successful entrepreneurship.  

WVF addresses this inequity and helps women better calculate their needs through an in-depth consultation process, offering strategies to achieve profitability.
